What will this role of Hearing Care Assistant entail?

You’ll be supporting a team of qualified Audiologists and be responsible for a wide range of tasks with delivery of the highest level of customer service at the forefront whilst keeping a focus on the store KPIs. Your performance will be well rewarded with support and training and for those who are not yet qualified; you will start your career with us on a 16 week training programme gaining a qualification in audiology.  Your duties will include:

  • Providing first class customer service in person, by phone and email

  • Ensuring the smooth and efficient management of the store diary, and keeping it busy with appropriate appointments

  • Clinical  hearing care tasks such as otoscopy and wax removal

  • Assisting customers with basic hearing aid cleaning / maintenance and minor adjustments to fine tune hearing aids as necessary

  • Performing a variety of hearing related tests

  • Providing customers with general information regarding rehabilitation, and personalised advice as determined by the Hearing Aid Audiologist

  • Promoting Hearing Health Check appointments and sundry sales in-store

  • Providing advice on ear care and noise protection products

 Other duties can include;

  • Processing orders for new and repaired hearing aids

  • Liaising with suppliers on hearing aid orders and outstanding repairs

  • Updating records on the computerised database and providing administrative support to ensure smooth running of the store including management of petty cash and maintenance of stock levels

  • Ensuring store point of sale material is in line with current campaigns

As required, training will be provided for you to become a qualified Hearing Care Assistant or if already qualified to enable you to develop your scope of practice as required

What will I need to be considered for this Hearing Care Assistant vacancy?

  • Willing to become knowledgeable about hearing health related issues and care pathways.

  • Ideally you will have experience of working in a healthcare role, for example optical assistant, care assistant, pharmacy advisor, or an administrator within the NHS, hearing care or other similar environments. Candidates form a customer services background will also be considered.

  • Superb interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both colleagues and customers in a pleasant manner.

  • Empathetic and supportive outlook towards customers who may have communication difficulties

  • Ability to be discreet and show the utmost respect for the privacy of customers

  • Self-motivation with ability to work under supervision, as part of a team and on own initiative

  • Commercial awareness with an interest in working towards sales targets whilst keeping customer satisfaction at the forefront of your mind

  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively

  • IT literacy with the ability to learn and adapt to various systems

  • If unqualified you will be willing to study and work towards your Hearing Care Assistant qualification.

  • Willingness to travel between stores and attend our Training Academy in Birmingham.

  • Driving licence and access to a car would be advantageous.

  • Approved Hearing Care Assistant qualification or work experience at this level would be advantageous but full training will be given to those without.

Salary: Competitive salary plus bonus and benefits.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, days & hours of work to be agreed depending upon locations, flexibility to work hours according to business needs including weekends would be advantageous..  Part time applicants would be considered.

Contract Type: Permanent
